Boomers' Place - Read the News

THE NEWS STAND

Read, write, chat with boomers from all over the world at Boomers' Place.
Also read selected newsgroups of interest to boomer net-cruisers.

Boomers' Place started out as a local bulletin board on the Cleveland Freenet some 9 years ago. Access difficulties and the desire to reach a bigger audience led us to the step of forming a Usenet group, alt.society.boomers. The local version migrated from Usenet to Cleveland Live early in 2000.

THE OFFICIAL ALT.SOCIETY.BOOMERS CHARTER

[Although Boomers' Place is now centered at Cleveland Live, the newsgroup alt.society.boomers still exists. The charter description is still valid for what we're trying to accomplish. On our best days, of course.]

The American generation born from 1946-1964 has changed almost every aspect of the society into which it arrived. From education and politics to popular culture and language, the influence of these 76 million has spread beyond the US to the world at large.

This group will be a worldwide gathering place for members of this generation and for anyone interested in discussion of relevant topics.

We conceive of this not as a nostalgia group or a trivia quiz resource, but for discussion of many topics from a broader generational perspective. Social Security and unemployment, parenthood and retirement issues look different depending on whether boomers, x-ers or depression babies are talking.
